The Zoner Photo Studio X Spring 2025 Update is here! Get ready to refine and speed up local adjustments with the power of AI. New AI Masking Tools in the Develop module open up exciting new possibilities. But that’s just the beginning. You’ll also find enhanced collages, improved Canvas Prints, and many other upgrades. 

For this update, we focused on helping ZPS X handle precise selection. Thanks to AI-powered tools, you can now make accurate selections in seconds, saving valuable time. Local adjustments in the Develop module are now faster, more precise, and more powerful than ever!  

New AI Local Adjustments

Four new AI selection tools have been added to the Develop module: 

• AI Subject: Selects the main subject
• AI Background: Selects the background
• AI Sky: Selects the sky
• AI Object: Selects an object within a chosen area

These tools expand on the existing Radial Filter, Gradient Filter, and Filter Brush, which are still available. You can now add any object, background, or sky to the Local Adjustments mask with a single click. AI handles complex selections and saves you tons of time.

More Masking Tools for precision editing

Two new Masking Tools were also added that let you select parts of an image based on luminance or color. These tools select areas with the same luminance or color:  

• Luminance Range
• Color Range

The great thing about the new Masking Tools is that you can copy adjustments to an entire series of photos, or save them as presets. This means you can darken backgrounds, brighten subjects, or enhance skies for hundreds of photos at once.  

Multi-Canvas Prints

If you love designing Canvas Prints, you’ll enjoy the new feature that lets you divide a single photo across multiple canvases. Plus, ZPS X now includes a 3D preview that shows how your Canvas Print will look, including how it wraps around the edges of the frame.  

Creative Instagram posts and collages

Great news for visual storytellers—You can now create stunning Instagram collages directly in Zoner Photo Studio X. 

You can split a single photo into multiple parts for a seamless feed, carousel, or story series. You can also freely arrange images, overlap elements, and add text. Customize dimensions for Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube.  

Better workflow overview

No more digging through hundreds of files! Quick Search now lets you filter photos by whether they’ve been edited or not. 

New Clarity sliders for Lights and Shadows

The classic Clarity slider adjusts the entire image, but now you can separately enhance details in the lights or shadows. Lights clarity and Shadows clarity sliders are perfect for portraits so you can bring out details in the hair without emphasizing wrinkles!  

Chromatic Aberration—A stylish new effect

The cinematic look and color shifts at the edges of the image are more popular than ever. The newly added Chromatic Aberration effect allows for subtle blending of color channels and creates a stylish result. Adjusting the Strength, Channel Mixing, and Radius makes it easy to tailor the effect to the specific shot. 

Improved video editing

Video editing is now even more flexible. You can separate the audio track from a video and edit, mute, or remove it completely. In addition, keyframes snap much more easily to objects in the timeline, making editing faster and more precise.  

Expanded format support on Zonerama

Zonerama now supports more than just JPG. You can also upload RAW, PNG, TIFF, and other formats with non-destructive editing. This preserves the highest quality and allows you to download originals at any time or make images easily accessible to clients.  

More precise retouching

The Retouching Tools in Zoner Photo Studio X now offer independent control over brush and stroke settings, resulting in more precise and natural-looking results. You can also adjust the Opacity or size of covered areas, making it easier to remove unwanted elements. 

Support for HEIF and HEVC formats

Modern cameras and smartphones increasingly use HEIF and HEVC formats for efficient photo and video storage. Zoner Photo Studio X now automatically detects if your system lacks support and provides easy codec installation for seamless editing and export. 

Easier adjustment resets

Working with adjustments is now smoother than ever. Instead of manually resetting individual settings, a simple double-click resets an entire subcategory of settings. This feature in the Develop module saves time and allows for quick experimentation without having to undo each change.   

Smarter AI grouping and more accurate Remove Background

Thanks to improved algorithms, Zoner Photo Studio X now automatically groups similar images even more accurately, simplifying how you organize your albums. Also, AI Remove Background is now more accurate. It can better detect the edges of objects and preserves even fine details, resulting in more natural-looking results.
